I would like to get some opinions on whether I am successful, semi-successful, or unsuccessful, as of now. I and a partner manage MrAirsoft.com, which sells airsoft guns and accessories. We are #1 for the search "cheap airsoft guns" and #4 for the search "airsoft guns" (no quotes on both phrases of course). We get about 4-6 sales a day and approximately 850 unique visitors a day. I think that's pretty good for a fairly basic osCommerce template. We are still growing and I have lots of plans for the future. However, could I be considered a successful web entrepreneur? Most of the people here make money just through AdSense, like I used to, but I found that I like selling physical goods much better. Well, I've rambled enough, somebody give me their opinion!
It all depends on what you think is successful really. Everyone has their own individual idea of success. I personally will nor call myself successful until I have reached at least $2000 / profit per day consistently without having to slave in front of the PC for 18 hours /day. You are asking a question that is going to give you a plethora of answers and all will most likely be different. Perhaps a question better asked would be one to yourself. "Am I making the most of what I could be?" Only you will know the answer to success because only you know where you come from and what you use to guage the levels of success. I hope this helps you with finding the true answer to your question. -EW
$2,000 a day, Jesus Christ. At first I thought that was a ridiculous goal, but it's quite possible, but that would NOT be easy, you would certainly need your own business and it would have to be very successful. I'm sorry it didn't help with finding the true answer to my question. I want solid answers! Yes/No!
The answer can only be answered by you is my point. If you want a yes or no. I would say no. If you have 840 unique visitors per day and you only manage to convert 4-6 sales per day you are converting less than 1%. try to convert 2%, use analytics to find out where you are losing the sales and improve on the weak area. You have good keywords going for you and "cheap airsoft guns" would tell me that people are looking to buy. So its up to you to sell them. convert 5-10% and you are successful. Is that a better answer?
It is a much better answer. The reason we aren't converting as much is because we only ship within the United States, but I believe we will be able to change that soon, and if we do, we'll be able to convert much more.
Just another thought, I'm sure there is a contribution that will allow you to integrate analytics into osc, if you wanted, but i highly suggest the goal marking features to help you pick up on the weaker areas. I did the same thing when I was doing slaes, and it really helped me learn what needed to be changed. Those guns look real! I imagine shipping them may turn a few heads lol, anyway best of luck with the business man, hope you start doubling conversions!
Yes, it does cost a lot to ship them, but people are willing to pay. We have used Analytics before but when we added SSL Analytics stopped working so we removed it, but I'll see about adding Analytics again because it will probably work now.
The day you think you are "successful" is the day you stop trying literally. I say it can always be better so kepe on trying make that 850 uv/day into 4000uv/day!
I would say you are somewhat successful, but your terms are not overly hard to SEO for. Like for instance if I made a post on my blog with the title: Airsoft Guns I would rank pretty close to where you are now without any work. So it depends, I would say you have done a fairly good job but it is easy terms. Try going for Guns Now thats a hard term.
What are you talking about? If you just made a post "airsoft guns" you wouldn't be in the first 10 pages. "Airsoft guns" is a relatively competitive term, and it's not worth going for "guns" because when people search "Guns" they are probably not looking for airsoft guns. Soon I'll be going for "airsoft"... that will be hard.
As I said, its just to let you know that its a easy term, but you are successful in that you found a easy one to market!
That is quite good for that search term being that high. I would say you are successful. But it all depends on how much you spent on it really.
I've only spent like $300-$350 for marketing, and $200 of that was for a radio ad that didn't really get much results (our customer registration page was actually DOWN during the duration of the ad!) Anyways, you're right majjessimo, airsoft guns is a relatively easy term to SEO for, but one time my site was #1 for the query "Funny Stories", and don't tell me that isn't competitive! Ha ha... anyways, things are going pretty good, I just wish a certain problem we have right now would get fixed (it's out of our control so we just have to wait...)
What is your goal for successful? How much do you earn per month right now? If you can $$$$$,then it is successful from me.
Hi,Kaabi. I I would say you are successful !!!!!! for the keyword " airsoft guns " you are #4 & #1 for the search "cheap airsoft guns" ...dam successful !!!!!!-- only in 7 months !!!. I have worked on those keywords for my site: http://www.cheap-airsoft-guns.net and http://www.rcplaneguide.com/Airsoft_Guns.html years. Still not even close to yours. you did great, great job ! no matter how much sale you have per day !! at least you get a lots of traffic free from google !! by the way, would you mind to exchange link with me ? sam
You must be an affiliate of Hobbytron, AirsoftGuns, because when you purchase from those sites it redirects to Hobbytron. I'm surprised that with a domain name like "cheap-airsoft-guns", though, you haven't been able to climb higher with that keyphrase. Use article submission!
Currently I'm afraid we cannot ship internationally except with Classic Army products, but we may gain international capabilities shortly.
