Am I safe to use my personal name for Affiliate Marketing when first starting?

Just wondering what most people do when first starting out in Affiliate Marketing? Do you use your name as your business name? Or is it safer to go out and get a 'legal' company name right from the beginning?

I don't want to incur the cost of forming a LLC or Corporation until I know that I can cover the cost by my income first.

What do/did most of you do when first starting out? Thanks for any pointers. I'm from Canada if that makes any difference.

Either way,you still have to use your real name, so if you don't want to spend the money to incorporate seems like your choice is clear.
You can't create an affiliate account under a fictitious name without your real credentials anyway.

I think you must use your real name for affiliations bcz you may need to prove your identity for further upgrades or to receive payments correctly... But before joining to an affiliate site, just make yourself confirmed that you are joining in a real paying site.

Oh, no sorry. I'm not trying to be slippery or anything like that. lol I just mean from more of a business/legal standpoint when it comes to paying taxes, being sued, etc., etc.

I used to work as a Sign Language Interpreter and it was always fine just to use your personal name as a company name. Didn't make any difference for paying taxes or receiving tax breaks, etc.

I just noticed that a lot of people selling e-books/programs have some sort of company name on the sales page and don't use their personal name.

Just because they use a "company name" doesn't mean that they are actually incorporated as that name. And it's still attached to your own name. You can't be a company with no officers or owners.

It could be a good idea to establish a legal entity to separate your personal assets from the business, for tax benefits and to limit personal liability. Remember Murphy's law ...
