    I have a fairly new site: http://www.chocolate-addiction.com.
How do I know if I am ready to submit to DMOZ? Since it seems to take a long time to get admitted, I'd like to do it soon. But how do I know if my site is ready?

It is your site. You own it, you write the content.
Who can best know if the site is ready? Only you.

It seems like you create website for search engines and directories. That is not good thing to do. Write for visitors. When ready for visitors it also ready for search and dmoz.

it is not so bad for DMOZ imho. Do the test: go to dmoz directory and check a category you want to be in. Than look over websites already placed there. Is your website better? have any edge over them? if answer is yes then go and submit it. otherwise keep working.

Anyone using the site-build-it service is probably automatically on the back foot. They are so boring.

If you have a finished, unique site full of interesting content then you are ready to Suggest your URL to DMOZ.
