    Hi,

Below is what I am doing to develop links for my Teen Forum and I would like to know if I am on the right path.

    • Putting link in signatures on forums
    • Yahoo Answers answering and putting my site in source
    • Yedda Answering
    • Writing articles and posting on the blogs I set up at Wordpress, Blogger, Xanaga and Tumblr.
    • Social Bookmarking
    • Blog commenting

Am I on the right path?

As blog8491 said you are on a right track. However be careful about link development speed and do the activities in a moderate speed. In short, Do not make haste and instead of promoting on single keyword try to target 4-5 keyword.

Yes I need to do directory submission however I can't find any decent non reciprocal ones. Also I am picking related sites such as Habbo Hotel forums and even other teen forums.

Submitting articles to Ezine Articles with a link back to your site will also help out a lot. You could also do some YouTube marketing.

Yahoo Answers is NoFollow tag. If you are going for backlink juice, you get none from that.

Yes I dropped Yahoo Answers and Yedda to much time and not worth it. I am thinking about paying someone for directory submission and article submission any thoughts?

Who are you paying? Most people would just copy paste duplicate contents and submit them to ezines. You are better off writing original contents and then submit them.

There are some blog rings where you spin the article a bit before submitting it. It makes the article more valuable. Some are free and some are pay services. But they tend to produce better results than uncontrolled article submission sites.

Yes, I think you are on the right path, here are a few more suggestions that you may want to take into consideration.

    • Add a few optimized back links to your website from free link directory websites. (Add a few fresh back links every few weeks or so.)

    • Trade reciprocal links with a few reciprocal link directory websites. (I would recommend looking for a link directory that offers the ability to add a link instantly.)

Here is a link to more information on this topic that I recent posted here at Digital Point.

Adding Back Links to Free Link Directory Websites

If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to post them.

This is obvious of course, but it's often overlooked in link building discussions.

    Create great content.

Creating content readers will be interested in isn't enough.

Create content readers will act on. Create content readers will tell their friends about, and link to in forums, on their blog, and so on.

Authors who create this kind of quality content have a huge edge over site owners who have to fight for each link, one by one by one. Authors like this can invest most of their time in their content, which makes their content even better, which leads to more links, and so on.

Before you launch a big campaign to get links, give your site a really honest look.

Is your site worth linking to? Would you link to your site if it wasn't yours?

If you can honestly answer yes, you're off to a great start. If you can't answer yes yet, fix that first, then go link hunting.

    Best of luck!

    I agree totally!

Content is very import when attempting to establish relevancy of keywords and keyword phrases.

Internal search engine optimization should always come first and be considered before external search engine optimization.

After internal SEO factors are relevant, then add quality back links from other web sites to help improve keyword performance.

    Hi Brett,

    Thanks for your comments.

It can be a useful exercise to pretend there is no such thing as SEO and search engine traffic. In the early days of the commercial Net, 1994-1995 or so, this was more or less the case.

Let's imagine for a moment there is no such thing as search engine traffic. A site that can survive in that environment will probably naturally do pretty well in the search engines too.

Quality content isn't just an SEO issue. What is the point of having high rankings, and lots of traffic, if people come to our site and only stay a minute before leaving?

We want links for traffic. We want traffic for sales and income. All the links and traffic in the world won't do a lot of good if the links and traffic point to something nobody cares about.

What do our readers want, really want? If we can answer that question, and provide what they want, the links will come.

I'm agreeing with you, in my own words. Quality content first, then the links.
