Am I missing something?

    Ok...

I've got about 12 developed sites... I have submitted to tons of directories... All the sites have pages from PR0 to PR4... Some of my sites are as old as 3 years and 9 months...

    Still...

I get little to no traffic on most of the sites... And a very small amount of revenue... I see some people in here saying that they can make a site and earn 100's in their first month...

Is there a marketing step that I'm skipping?

First of all, PR has no direct link to the amount of traffic your site will get. PR is mainly there to increase a site's value in selling.

How old is your site? The only way you're going to get traffic through directories is if those directories bump your way up the google SERPs.

You're concentrating too much on page rank and not enough on pure traffic. You need to use something like google adwords, or post on forums about your topic with a link in your signature, that sort of thing. That will get you traffic.

Thanks for the quick response... I was trying to go without spending any money on getting traffic, but I guess I'll cave...
    Thanks again...

Please consider the power of social networking sites. A lot of surfers stay there because they can find almost everything that they are searching for. The keyword here is "unique content" and your visitors or members will be the one who will be promoting your site in future. Mouth to mouth advertising is free and very powerful.

Alright, you have 12 established websites.
    Few questions:
What type of websites are these ? Blogs ? Informal ? Service ? Portals ? etc.
    What is little revenue for you (a month) ? 10$ ? 100$ ? 1,000$ ?
What programs do you use to generate income ? Adsense ? Other Affiliates ?
What did you do concerning SEO and promotion of these sites ?
What did you do to bring traffic to your websites ?
Based on your answers, i might come up with some tips for you, hopefully. [IMG]

You submitted to tons of directories...how many is "tons"?

You do realize that from directories you will get very little direct traffic, if any. I hope you did your research on keywords so that when you submitted your sites to directories your anchor text was carefully chosen keywords.

Do you do anything else besides directory submission? I did a little of that and found it to be a waste of my time for the most part, so I went with article marketing. A lot more traffic and a lot more efficient for my time. Just my experience anyway.
