Am I just gullible or what?

Lately I've been eyeballing the web stuff being offered on ebay. After all it is soooo cheap. Question is, would it help or hurt?

    1) Offer to submit url to 800,000 site for 5 bucks.

    2) Various offers to direct traffic to your site. Take your pick, from 5000 hits
    to 1,000,000. Also really cheap.

    3) A few hundred thousand web templates, stock photos, PHP scripts,
ebooks , clip art all for about 5 bucks.

Has anyone actually bought any of this stuff and do you have an opinion?

My only comment would be on #2...

If you're getting traffic that cheap its definetly paid-to-surf, and if you are using AdSense that is against the TOS. Even if you aren't using AdSense I doubt you would get the actual level of traffic that they claim and it probably wouldn't earn you a dime for your site.

    My comment is on #3,

There was a recent uproar about some of those packs having copywritten content, and several ebay sellers (including one I bought it from) had their auctions removed. Don't know if this is the one you're talking about, though.

Also, as for #1, I suspect that'd be guestbook spamming if they do anything at all. Would you let anyone pay $5 for the time it'd take even a bot to submit to 800k sites? ARE there 800k sites where you can easily add your link? I'd guess 2k dirs, maybe 10k guestbooks, over 100k blogs, over 2k FFA pages and over 10k sites they could get with automated link exchange, but where is the rest coming from?

I suggest you ask the seller of item #1 where the links will be placed. Ask him to email you a full list of urls and pageranks. (;)) or just generally, guestbooks? Blogs? etc.

Remember: http://www.w3.org has Inlinks (1,079,786) according to yahoo (1,079,787 now, I guess)
    Geocities.com Inlinks (157,353)
    Alexa.com Inlinks (517,028)
Godaddy.com Inlinks (154,903) (and that's AFTER being on the superbowl commercials several times)
    www.digitalpoint.com Inlinks (93,398)
    forums.digitalpoint.com Inlinks (77,791)
    mattcutts.com/blog Inlinks (139,942)

(all the above links data were set to except from this domain to only this url, as that IS what is promised in the auctions, right?)

Do you really think $5 can put you on par with these sites? ;)
