    hi folks,

i'm looking for some advice from those with a little more experience than i have. two months ago i put up my first attempt at a money making site: it's got about 400 pages of unique content, it's all been SEO'd as best i can (unique titles/h1 etc), and it's a genueinly useful site. it does feature a lot of affiliate links -but these are in keeping with the nature of the site and aren't spammy.

after two months of slowly building backlinks (although i still don't have many) i'm getting maybe 5 visitors a day:mad: i'm in a competitive niche and google sends me nothing except the odd very long-tail query which never converts. my ranking is improving in yahoo slowly but i'm nowhere in MSN.

is this typical sandbox behaivor or am i doing somrthing wrong? thanks.

You need to conquer yahoo first.
Lots of relevant links from lots of different CP.
    FORGET google for a year.
    You are torturing yourself.
Yahoo for me normally takes about three months to show, unless there is keywords in the domain name.
What sort of affilate links are you using?
    Pictures I bet.
Go for links in the text instead, telling the customer what to do.
Also buy some more domain names, old ones!

lol. Forget google for a year?!? I've had sites rank in google literally overnight. It just depends on the niche you are in on and how many backlinks your competitors have for the keywords you want to rank.

If I knew what keyword you were trying to rank for and how many searches per month it got I might be able to tell you if ranking for it in 2 months was feasible.

for popular keyword, google will take some time. but yahoo and MSN wont. for
Custom Lanyards a site ranking in google is 254 to 300. but in Yahoo the site in 12 and in MSN it is in 6. May be this is what we know is google sandbox.

    best wishes

yes the sandbox exist but it only a factor not an absolute

your site will just need more popularity than one that has been around awhile.

proper seo is targeted not just happenstance.

    Site engines are so different.

In Yahoo Aust, Ansearch and even Google i rank #1-#10 on 1st page for Dart Shops, Buy Darts and other 2-3 word phrases. For the single word "darts", which is the one keyword term i really want, i dont rank in the first 1000. Actually i cant find me at all.

Sandbox sucks. Only been going 13 weeks so hopefully will improve, i have some great links, DMOZ, BOTW, Joe Ant etc so surely the next PR update may pull me out?? 3400 links in total, probably 20 are PR3 and upwards.

Hope so. Its killing me in here.
