Am I going to start getting junk like this in the mail all the time now.

I joined this forum to learn from you pros about optimizing my site for Search Engines. I got an email today from someone wanting money for a list of top paying words. I get enough junk mail as it is. Should I expect this sort of thing from more people here. Will more people be getting my email from this site and trying to get money from me? I dont like getting a PayPal invoice for something I haven't requested. Since this is the only site I come to for this kind of info I am sure the sender is from this site. Please if you know who it is or you are the person do not send me this stuff anymore. I get enough junk mail already.

here is the message I got

Arun Chandran (arundirect@gmail.com) would like to be paid through PayPal.
    Money Request Details
    Amount: $9.95 USD
    Event Date: Dec. 23, 2004
    Note: Hello there,
I'm a publisher who has been working keen on finding the top paying keywords for quite some time now. I have finally made a list of 200 keywords that are the most paid. (Listed by category)
The list was last updated on 20th December. These keywords pay from $0.4 to $8/click. You'll also get top 10 things you must avoid doing with your AdSense account, to keep your account intact. Also tricks to convert public service ads to paying ads. All this for $9.95!, for the hard work I have put in. You'll surely earn $400+/day if you have a decent traffic! That would make you member of $10k Club, and you would receive your payments via Fed-Ex!
This would be emailed to you once we receive your payment,
    Happy holidays,
    Sincerely,
    Arun

You can set it so users can't send you email under the UserCP.

I realize what it is. I am just wondering if someone is targeting members here. Maybe the mods could detour them from doing so. Ahh I forgot you could turn that off. On my way. Thanks for the reminder.

If 1 spam mail bothers you, I suggest not coming near your computer. Or, since you have that spammers email address, go sign him up for some spam lists (that's what I do with people that spam this forum). I get about 1,000 spam emails per day..WEEEEEE..consider yourself lucky ;). OR, you could always just ask arundirect to knock it off

I have never been contacted from this forum from users other then in DP. I think I only allow PM (private messages) Digital point emails me a notice, and then I check it online.

Your problem sounds like phishing man. Someone may have been trying to get you to log in to a fake paypal address so he has your username and password.

I rarely receive spam, but I did receive this one so I am am 99% sure the person sending it found my address here :( . Coincidently it arrived shortly after I read a thread on that subject. With the smal amount of spam I receive it's not a problem but just thought I would put in my 2cents worth :D .

Yeah, they are annoying with their spam posts too. They earned themselves a 2 week ban. :)

I can think of a couple of others who deserve two weeks in the sinbin as well :p .

That's a damn good idea actually.....a two week ban....no one can complain about it either as it's more than fair.....much better than banned for life....can do that next time :D
