- I just did 2k directory submissions ( got in around 500 - 750) - I'm also doing a 5.7k article submission service (over a month period) - all new links have the same keyword - I was ranking in 70-85 now it jumped to 190-210, is this google dancing with me?
You're overdoing it - that's going to be screaming 'spam' to google. Especially the 'all the same keyword' bit.
The site does have authority thought, its a 3 year old website and I've been working on this keword for sometime now. should I lay low?
Take it easy man. All this 1 and 2K directory submissions will do you more harm than good. The thing is this: if Google finds say 500 links with same keyword during a single crawl, that is spamming! it calls for an alert.
Yes, you are overdoing it! While submitting, at least have different keywords, or variations of the keyword, like: - Past tense of the word - Synonyms - Plural, etc This way, it wouldn't seem spammy to Google. Also, like everyone said, take it slow so that the links seem more organic.
