Am I Fishing?

I just thought of something .Maybe I'm just fishing here, but could someone manipulate the number of searches performed for a certain keyword phrase, and make money from it.

I ask this because I sometimes see an extraordinary number of searches for complete sentences. This defies all logic to me.

So I aksed myself. If someone purposely, type in that whole sentence 2000 or whatever number of times, so that the keyword hunters are going to see it and then possible act on it. Make a web site marketed on that one sentence. Could the person who typed that sentence into the search engine X number of times, benefit from others making a web site around that phrase?

Just an idea - call me silly

Overture search data can be spammed, if that's what your asking.

If you're selling a book or service and people see that your services are sooo much searched for some people MAY make sites for you or become active affiliates. There's no limits (except the ones imposed by self ;))

Overture search data can be spammed - is that what I'm asking? close, but why?
