My web site is a tour operator web site and I have been having reasonable success on organic rankings. I have been promoting the home page, individual countries and individual tours. Time consuming to say the least!! My aim is to give a searcher a landing page relating directly to their search rather than just the home page So, horse riding holidays in Spain for example will take them directly to the Spain country page etc etc. The keywords are less competitive if you search for horse riding holidays in Spain rather than just horse riding holidays so reasonable success is being acieved. What I am finding is that I am competing against myself and having not only the relevant country page but also my home page being listed pretty close together. Along side this I am also trying to promote individual destinations i.e locations within a country. Again this is having reasonable success but the time involved in doing all of this is enormous. Would like some comments or feedback thanks
This is a great way to get traffic. Targetting specific countries will give you hundreds of top ranking terms with lower amounts of traffic than the main generic terms. These hundreds of terms all add up to give quite a lot of traffic I expect and leads to more stability in the event that your rankings for the main terms decrease.
Even if my main terms are repeated throughout the site? So........... Horse Riding Holidays is my Main Phrase as thats what we do..... This is used in Home Page, Country Page(s) and Ride Detail Page(s). Horse Riding Holidays Spain is then used for Country Page(s) and Ride Detail Page(s) My logic tells me that this is the right way to do it but my logic isnt G, MSN, Yahoo!! It is also taking a huge amount of my time in doing ti this way and I really dont want to be wasting my time doing something that wont be productive!!
If you are generating the pages using a database it should just be one page with the title, meta description, h1 tags and content altered depending on the country.
