Am I banned from Google?

    Hi Friends,

I have been trying to promote one of my friends website - http://www.answering-services.org lately but I am facing some problems:

Firstly, Google does not shows this site indexed. This site is atleast an year old. I think Google has penalised it and has banned it:confused:
So, can any of you guys point out what the problem may be that led Google banning this site?

Secondly, if it is banned, I may transfer it to a new domain. But since this site is having some traffic from Yahoo and MSN, I do not want to lose that traffic. So what is the safest way to redirect the existing traffic from this banned site to a new site without affecting the indexing of the new site in Google?

I hope I could get some answers before plunging in for a solution blind folded.

    Regards,
    Vipul Gupta

Looks like you are banned indeed. Probably the safiest way is to use
Javascript redirection. Otherwise if you use permanent 301 redirect (.htaccess) Google will know where you moved the site and may ban it also.
    Just my guess :)

Err..the problem looks like the fact that there is no genuine content on the site, it is just ads, with links to other pages with ads.
Google adsense should only be used on sites with actual content.

No, nothing strange was done on the site. It was just banned one morning!

Can't Google read JavaScript Redirections? Can any of the experts here affirm if its possible?

I think if it was this reason then it would have got banned from Adsense first, not the search engine itself. Google is pretty strict on Adsense rules. Everyone of us have experienced it one time or the other. So, it can't be the content because if it was the content then it would have been the Adsense team the first one to react but its still there with Adsense! Its the regular SERP that has been affected.

    What do you guys think?

    Vipul

We have seen sites here before that are banned and the adsense are still there.

Try adding some actual content and asking to be unbanned.

I think I have found the reason for being banned afterall. Though there are not many links on the website, but those that are there point to the wrong url on the same domain. For example please go to: http://www.answering-services.org/state/california/california-answering-services.html - now on this page you will find some answering service listings for CA. Let's take "Your Answering Service" for example. This link is pointing to http://www.answering-services.org/state/california/www.youransweringservice.com

A simple html error resulted in broken links and Google banned the site. I think this is the reason. Any comments on this guys? Do you think I am correct?

nope, I have a site that google always thinks it has broken links and its not banned.

They wont ban for broken links, you cant know if an external link is going to go away when you link to it.

Why do you think its not the content issue?
Have you tried emailing them to find out?

He doesn't want to believe it's content because that's the one thing he can't fix. However...it appears to be the content.

Do you really think it is banned? When I opened your site the PageRank bar in Google tool bar isn't grayed out. It usually goes gray not white with no page ranking if the site was banned from Google...

Does anyone know more about this?

    Hey Guys,

I don't think its the content because I have seen really more crappier sites than this one on this theme. But it is always good to know the mistake that leads to a bad situation so that we can avoid it in the future. Its not that I don't want to believe that it may be the content - I just want to confirm it.

I think I should follow AmyNelson's advice and should really contact Google about it. But I am not sure if I will get a reply:eek:

By the way, where can I email Google about this?

    Regards,
    Vipul

Another member had a site banned recently, and they emailed then, and resolved the issue and got it unbanned.
But if the issue is the content then that will need to be fixed.
btw if its just your friends site, shouldnt they be doing the work, emailing, and adding content.
