Hey, I have an electronic review site which I would like to put photos on, would it be illegal to find photos from another site or google images, download them and put them onto my site and then use them? Regards, nut legend
You can upload photos from wikipedia by reading some description after clicking it's image which you want. They are really a good free photo source. You can use wikimedia also.
As long as you ask the owners first. Most images are covered under copyright law and therefore require the express written permission.
You may have a fair use defense if there is commentary about the photos both from you and UGC, but these are risky situations. Get an attorney involved to help design your site to reduce the risk of trademark infringement. Typically, getting permission does not work for most on-line plays like you describe, but it is the safest route.
best is to make your own pictures (or modify existing ones using paintshop, psssst) and watermark them
Just get the pics and edit few things and its yours or you can give copyright for the picture when due.
Downlod picture make soem smaller change and give yor own name while you will uplod. it will be your own picture
no it won't, its still illegal to do that. They have to be completely your work. And just giving credit is not enough to keep from copyright infringement, the law requires express written permission.
The way you describe it - hence no... These images might be covered with several rights - like the photographer's right and if it's a certain product the company's right on the product...includes images. Like even photographer's ain't allowed to photograph anything and sell the picture - so what gives you the idea you could just take any picture from the internet?? Ask the company and/or photographer for the right - and if necessary pay for it. If it's review there's surely also companies who might allow it for free as it's also free advertisement for them
