Hello. Two months ago I submitted my website on 2500 directories plus 1500 article directories (all of them in one month-all manual submission and no FFA links!). But I think was too many in one month right? Now my website was dropped about 10 pages on my keywords search results. I do not know what happened. I was expected to improve my position in search results ...not to be dropped 10 pages. What should I do now? How can I fix this issue? Do you think it is only a temporary problem? If yes how long time do I need to wait to be fixed? Does anyone had any experience like mine? Please help. Thank Marius
You dropping in Google rank probably has nothing to do with your submissions. Keep in mind that you are not the only one doing SEO for your chosen keywords
There may be other factors... for instance how old is your site? If you have a fairly new site and you did all that work, odds are you are going to get hit for a bit but you will eventually rise back up in the search rankings. That was a lot of work for a short period of time and I've sen that happen in the past. Give it a couple of weeks and you'll probably be back up but continue to add backlinks. I wouldn't bother with directories, I would be making a few linkwheels a week and submitting articles to the tune of about 25 a week.
Adding too many links to your site too quickly is a VERY common way to get your site penalized. It happened to me when I first started out as well, and is a common trap for eager new webmasters to fall into. You have to make your link building look NATURAL. Just add a few links a week...nothing huge, and eventually your site's authority will build up over time. Remember that the key, esp. to Google, is QUALITY over quantity...
I think a site can not get penalized for getting too many backlinks in short period of time, as if google used to penalize sites for getting too many backlinks [quickly], then people will start to do all this for their competitors in order to get them penalized. The worst that can happen is that google will ignore such links, that is, you will get no credit for those links. "What should I do now?" I think that your site is still new. In order to stabilize your site's ranking in SERPs, you should get some solid backlinks and you will also have to wait for sometime to see good results.
What should I do now? Wait and continue your marketing. Does anyone had any experience like mine? I had the exact situation with two websites, they corrected themselves after a matter of weeks Cheers, Prophet
It may just be the normal changes in the SERPs...a small "shake up" that often returns close to normal.
This is`nt exactly true... You can add a 1000 backlinks or more a week as long as you do it every week and not do a 1000 one week and then nothing for a month, Google will see link building as unnatural if your adding 1000`s one week then nothing for months before doing it again. As long as your linkbuilding is consistant you have nothing to worry about.
Hi Marius, I don't think adding loads of links in one hit can harm your site. Keep building good links and wait for your SERPs to stabilise as others have said above. Also, even if you did do 4000 submissions, how many of the directories actually listed you and gave you a backlink? Even if they do give you backlinks they won't all give you a link at the same time. It's likely your backlinks will take many weeks or even months to go live on the directories. Brian
Its a well known fact that Google, in particular, values quality over quantity. Yahoo, on the other hand, will take all your links into account and it's much easier to "game" them because of that. When you add any new links Google will now wait before giving them the proper weight, and will quite often drop your serp until it adjusts the importance of those new links. The old "well I could do that to my competition" argument that angilina pointed out is a bit too simplistic, as Google knows better than that. That's why they wait before "judging" the importance of the newly added links. It's definately QUALITY over quantity and dont let anyone here tell you different. I can easily get on Google page one for every site I launch just by having a few well placed links over 1000 "spammy" ones.
about your submissions, specially article submissions, it may take some time to approve them and publish them. so google may find your links after some time. therefore wait.
As I see it you can only do about two things: 1. Try using some on-page seo techniques like installing SILO 2. Wait for the rankings to go back up. But as that one person said, quality over quantity will win everytime. And if you haven't heard about SILO, defiantly research it. It works really well for me!
That should not be a problem. It is just a myth that Google will penalize a site for sudden link building. Its beyond the webmaster control if other websites want to link to one's website. Its normal to experience a slight drop in keyword ranking after you do some link building. The SERP will be back to normal or better soon
It doesn't matter whether you submitted the site to 2000 directories in a month because directories doesn't approved immediately.
