Am fed up.. Do i need to contact google?

My site is based on movie reviews.. I get the highest traffic for weekly movie reviews as i am the first to put it up on the web.. Its hard work..

One site is simply ripping my reviews (within an hour of me posting it) and posting it on their site.. Same title same content.. Sometimes they are ranked 1 in SERP and me second.. Am loosing a lot of traffic from a rival who is posting my content..

I contacted the owner of the site.. No response.. I sent a mail to their host, no response..

From this week.. He is just changing some of the words from my review and posting it on his site.

My last option is contacting google.. Should i contact google regarding this? Will they even care?

Google has strict policys about copyright issues. Do send them emails / letters about this. He is destroying your business and it's illegal. You haven't done anything wrong, he has.

    1. How do i block his IP?
    2. How do i contact google? Can someone provide me the email address? How about using the "Dissatisfied with your search results?" at the bottom of every SERP?

    Thanks :)

in your .htaccess you can add the following (xx.xx.xx.x is the ip you wish to block)

    Order Allow,Deny
    Deny from xx.xx.xx.x
    Allow from all

That's assuming he can tell where the actual theft is coming from.

More than contacting Google, you need to contact a lawyer. This is copyright infringement, and it is serious. Your attorney can either get him to stop, or sue the fuck out of him.

I think there is no reason to bother google... they are not police or anything like that - you should should go in the legal way (I mean use your rights to your work), but I know this is not easy in the internet... unfortunately...

Try contacting the hosts of the other site, and explain the situation to them. I doubt contacting Google will have any effect at all, but good luck.

Its impossible to find out his IP..

And regarding contacting a Lawyer.. I really doubt if its possible here in India :( (the legal system isnt strong here.. Would take years..) I would probably invest the same time and money on the site..

Sandbox is what some persons believe is a penalty assigned to new sites that haven't been around a long time. They believe that it means that a site is unable to rank well for the corresponding keywords.

Others don't believe the sandbox exists.

And yet others believe it exists, but only for competitive keywords - and once you get above a certain threshold (unknown number) of sites competing for a word, that the sandbox kicks in.

You can report it to Google, especially if they are running Adsense and profiting from Google from your work. Also contact their host and file a DMCA takedown notice, if the host refuses to comply you can also go to the upstream provider.

Also develop more links to your site, they are outranking you because their site is strongest. Who publishes content first has nothing to do with who ranks where as you are now finding out.

Simple. File a DMCA copyright complaint against him. You'll have to fill out a lot of forms but at the end of the day Google WILL shut him down, especially when you provide proof that your articles were published before his at all times. The fact that this guy ignored you just means he's either outside the U.S. (thus he believes he's untouchable) or he's just some lazy kid who doesn't know any better or could care less. File the DMCA with Google and they'll contact him, and if he ignores them, too, then they'll shut his ass down.

This has happened to me before. This kid out of China was doing the same thing, just copying and pasting everything I had for one of my blogs and slapping Adsense on his site. I considered doing the DMCA thing on him, but at the end of the day, the site wasn't making that much money, so I just decided to shut it down.

I agree about the DMCA complaint. I found a blog with some information (and some bitching) here:

    http://www.seroundtable.com/archives/014375.html

You can find Google's page on how to file a DMCA complaint with them here:

    http://www.google.com/dmca.html

If you can get them completely banned from Google's index, they can steal all the content they want but users won't be able to find them. To get them completely shut down will cost some money in attorney's fees, and may not do anything because they could be out-of-country.

Happened to me once, a guy almost copied all of my site, but the best thing for me and the worst for the user he/she was using adsense i contact adsense team and show my site and explain how they copy they told me that they will monitor it few days, and i saw after few days adsense account was blocked.

You may have better chance if other site using adsense.

Contact them and tell them to stop

You could have an attorney for a few hundred send them a cease and desist. If they are in India that will not work.

Check your log files and see if you see a pattern. You may be able to determine the ip. Also check their whois as they may

I've found 5 or 6 sites that have copied some of my pages and I don't worry about it.
