I have a customer that needs to embed a few short videos (30 seconds - 2 minutes) introducing products on their site. We had planned on using Vimeo's plus (means paid) service. We signed up and upon uploading the first video, we're informed that videos uploaded for commercial purposes including product promotion are not allowed. So... wtf? A paid service that doesn't allow customers to use their own videos for their own business? Any suggestions on how to embed the videos without hosting them ourselves? Including paid services? Thanks
You can upload them to YouTube. YouTube is free online video service. A lot of people upload commercail videos to YouTube and didn't asked to pay for it. If you want to host the videos on your own web server, you need a Flash video player for them. You can check this tutorial for details - http://flash-video-player.blogspot.com/2009/05/how-to-add-flash-videos-to-blog.html
hey, do you really have try to youtube? if there any solution you can hosted by yourself. how big the video file? its only 2 minutes. maybe only 20MB? i prefer hosted by myself
Yes, Vimeo sees itself as the place for artistes. The one that I have found to be the best for this type of video is blip.tv. It has a free and paid service to meet different needs and does a nice job of syndicating as well as serializing the videos if needed. This story actually re-iterates what I tell people about real estate video all the time. The strongest aspect of real estate video is its ability to bring in new customers. As I often say, only one viewer can buy the home, but EVERY viewer could call you to buy and/or sell another home. That is also why I highly suggest that the agent appears at the beginning and or end of the video to introduce themselves, and offer their services. ------ Check out the current episode of 'I Want Video' web TV program, where we help you use the power of video to make more money! www.visualdreams.tv
Try metacafe for an alternative solution I just looked at there posting guidelines the other day and nothing is said about commercial videos being uploaded. All of these video sharing sites have the right to not display your videos for any reason. So nothing is guaranteed by using these video sharing sites. So hosting them yourself is really the best solution like izzy_desain said.
Apart from YouTube, Vimeo, metacafe, blip.tv, you could try dailymotion.com, howcast.com, Yahoo video, Google video, AOL video...
Maybe you can consider the host the videos on your own webhost using some website video player ? As it gives you maximum flexibility plus no ads, or waters?
While this topic is still going I figured I would throw out there a very good alternative if your wanting to present excellent quality videos to your visitors. That is VideoPress. You need a wordpress blog that is hosted by wordpress but they alllow you to embed thte upload videos if you host your own wordpress blog. I seen the quality first hand and it is simply the best video hosting venue if your looking to produce very high quality video for your viewers. The biggest down fall here is storage you can have upto 1 gig of free space but if you opt in for more space it will cost you are $60 a year. The key here is quality something other sites don't offer... Wordpress said... "VideoPress converts your original video into multiple high-quality formats"
