besides pagerank and alexa, it's probably a new standard to rank your web directories. have you added your sites? SEO Meter, a tool to monitor search engine's crawling rate. http://www.seometer.com
Could very well be a very good tool But these tools usually only produce data for the patrons that utilize the tool Then what happens is that you do not get impartial results, because many sites are not infact in the system Good luck I think your potential use is much broader based, than just the directory sector
I saw quite some well known directories are using this tool. I applied one for my directory http://www.seometer.com/index.php?search=www.dirwizard.com&x=0&y=0 but be honest, don't know how to compare with other sites.
The point of discussion has certainly reminded me of my discussion with Merlin (banless)few months back. I remember we were exchanging points on criteria for Quality Directories-- and I told him Crawl Rate should be on top of the list. My reasoning is that-- Google bots crawl sites that has high reputation/importance with them and which are most active with fresh contents. Bots seems to be always present with Forums and social media sites as there are always fresh contents. But Directories have different dynamism. Still if the directory is valued by bots-- they would visit them more frequently. I have even done some experiments on which directories are most frequently indexed by Google at that time. But now-- I have something different logic altogether. I have found the way to force the bots crawl my sites ( the site I want to) more frequently than others. So this thing too can be manipulated to some extent. But all pages can't be manipulated frequently- like Recent Link page, Submit Page etc. On the other-hand, this is the most credible criteria to me to judge the quality of a directory. SEOMETER has definitely got an alternative. But they are harming their own tool/themselves by charging an annual fee of $20. If they let this tool free- I reckon they can earn more from adsense than sites submitted. Hope they too read this as their tool is quite unique and hold more credits than any other known tool online.
hi jhnrang, like you say, it's a free tool now, give a try. http://blog.seometer.com/seometer-is-a-free-tool-now/
Yes, it is free to submit your main URL I guess they charge only when submitting inner pages Noticed most of the big directories are already there and also noticed a Top 20 by categories, for directories too http://www.seometer.com/web-directories/
I kinda gave up a long time ago on using ranking tools for the reasons that britishguy mentions... The other major problems I found were that it was very easy for other people to manipulate rankings. I've not really looked at this site before, so it might be worth re-visiting for KingBloom..
I blogged about seo-meter some days back & yes It is a good alternative, I have been testing it for some days now.
It tracks a nice indicator of a site's authority/freshness/proper structure, so it's a good tool. Thanks for pointing it out.
Do you have any directory that contains pr3 of its link pages specially of travel, internet and health. i am interested to buy one.
