I apologize in advance if I am posting this in the wrong area, though I would SPECIFICALLY like to hear back from businesses that are currently using Google AdSense. This is NOT a solicitation by any means, rather a simple survey to help me determine wether I should keep going with my concept, or move on. I am working on some software that would allow advertisers to have their ads embedded WITHIN threads on public forums, INSTEAD of having them in the usual TOP and/or BOTTOM of pages (where users expect them to be and are more likely to ignore them). Because it's NOT developed by Google, there would be some limitations, while at the same time providing greater benefits. I would like to hear back from BUSINESSES and ADVERTISERS simply if they would considering paying for this type of advertising. The bad news (limitations): - keywords are not relevance based (no use of Google's word sets) - no EXACT measurement of views per month (though a pretty accurate estimate is provided - ie - with this setup, at X price, you can expect 5000 views per month) - no clickthrough measurements The good news (benefits): - YOUR ad would be embedded in user's signatures WITHIN threads - where forum browsers are more receptive to messages (as opposed to top and bottom where they are easily ignored) - instead of Cost per Thousand, you pay one price and your ad is up for the entire month - regardless of how many views (though as I'd suggested, a pretty accurate estimate of number of views is provided) If you are unsure, please ask more questions before voting. Thank you for your time, Kev
Anyone using something like this for adsense would get banned shortly. There are programs and advertising networks that use this already.
I apologize if there's a misunderstanding - I don't quite understand your response - this is not something that would be used for adsense, but simply an additional means for a business or advertiser to get their message out. Just to be clear - this would be ENTIRELY independent of AdSense and has NO connection to it whatsoever. I simply mentioned AdSense as a means of comparison to better explain the concept.
