Today, I thought I'd set the alternate ad on the Chitika banner at the top of PlanetBlog as it's easy to do. Then, to see how it works, I set the proxy in my browser to an open proxy in Vietnam and opened up the page. Sure enough, the 728x90 banner at the top changed to the correct alt ad I've set, but here is where the strange bit happens. All of the 468x60 banners in the rest of the page have changed to part representations of the 728x90 banner. I've attached a pic to show what I mean. This is not a firefox oddity as I tried it with Opera as well with the same result. Does changing just one Chitika banner's alt ad url change the whole lot? Is this an intended feature?
I get that as well when I tested it so I decided to not do alt ads for now. I'll just have to suck it up when the audit comes...
