    The alt tags will give your SERPs a boost, but it is important not to spam them. The purpose of alt tags is so specilist software used by visually impaired people can describe the image. As as this is done properly as part of your SEO strategy you will see benefits in your SERPs

    Yes it does work. The trick is to use alt tags and name the images with relative keywords. Your google traffic will increase significantly. I did this and the results are in my Case Study.
