If by alt tags not working you mean text doesn't pop up when you hover your mouse over then you're wrong, they aren't supposed to do that anyway - that was a fault in earlier versions of IE, and something that has worked properly in Firefox for years.

Alt tags are supposed to only show if you have an image missing, if you want a text box to appear you're supposed to use title="my text".

astroman is correct and, as always, IE is incorrect and Firefox is performing correctly.

How so? IE is so lame, even Microsoft admits it. It's 11 years behind all other browsers, technically, and Microsoft's future plans don't include tech that all other browsers use now. It's incompetent at best.

i use aol browser which uses IE somehow . . . but how ff is garbage is because they display things different than what is in plain text/html. and somehow they still get things misaligned, also when i check my stats i have more people browsing my site from their PS3 then i do FF so what that tells me is for the majority, the only people that use FF are web oriented people whether its webmasters or what ever. BUT the normal person does not use it.

This is true. alt tags are not supposed to show. and it IE8 doesn't read it right, who cares unless you're visually impaired and all.

Talk to the sites you visit and quit blaming Firefox. FF is one of the most advanced browsers on the market while IE is the worst on the planet, incompetent at best.
So what does that tell you? People who know the most about the web and how it works use Firefox. People who know the least use IE! But you are wrong if you think "normal people" do not use IE. 50% of Europe and parts of Asia and Australia do NOT use IE and I'm sure you know 50% of users are not web developers.
