Ok so this isn't the biggest success in the world, but I did manage to make the top story for "hardware" upcoming stories. So hopefully I can get out of the upcoming area and hit the real hardware category . What exactly makes a story jump from upcoming to popular, anyhow? Is there a specific factor? One of the stories ahead of mine has 41 diggs.
well done I have managed to get my item dugg 33 times but I cant seem to get on the homepage? or is there that 24 hour rule? SaR
I'm not quite sure. My story is just under 24 hours old, and it is still climbing the ladder. I'm closer to the very top story of upcoming now
I think it's easier when you have lots of friends on Digg. The best way to do that is by Digging and commenting on upcoming stories that will be hitting the front page, and also trying to find interesting content not already posted and submitting it yourself. Once you've got a network of friends who follow your posts, you can get some Diggs for just about anything you post, and anything interesting you post will likely make it to the front page for its category.
Hm, it seems it just now disappeared from the top of the "upcoming" list.. I think the 24 hour limit is true, because it disappeared right when it turned 24 hours old
yeah i think they keep it fresh by keeping top 10 within 24 limit, but you can still be near the top if you click '7 days' at the top With regards to freinds - you guys wanna add me? Will give you a helping dig phaps http://www.digg.com/users/dotWdot
Do old Digg entries with new Duggs count as much as new ones? For example - should I try to get additional diggs for this one posted 3 months ago with 87 Diggs, or start a new one? -http://digg.com/business_finance/Business_Directory_and_Business_ListingsThanks. By the way, please Digg...
Although Digg can bring in visitors, you have to keep in mind that if you are putting in more time than you are getting back in $, is it really worth it to continue? In other words...who gets paid more and working fewer hours, you or the minimum-paid dishwasher? But sometimes it can pan out.
It works on a ratio... That is... a story that has 10 diggs in 1 hour is likely more popular than a site that has 20 diggs in 12 hours. If you are in the top upcoming stories and the article is really good, it should be easy enough to make the home page from there. Good Luck
I also got the same thing. It was on the Hot list but disappeared... Guess a lot of diggs in a short amount of time really help.
Yes somewhat the same - all of the social networks. You should always try to get a hold of multiple networks - so that you dont loose if one of the networks fail to give you *bling*
Digg does not seem to work too well for niche content. It is easier if your content is more applicable to the masses.
