Thank you for your participation in the Yahoo! Publisher Network Beta program. As part of our efforts to ensure high-quality traffic for advertisers on the Yahoo! Publisher Network, we continuously monitor publisher attributes such as: 1. Sources of their traffic, including their geographical distribution. 2. Overall quality of leads generated on their sites. Unfortunately, we have detected international (non-U.S.) traffic from your site(s) http://www.xxxxxxxxx.net. Currently, our beta program is designed for U.S. traffic only, and Section 11(l) of our program?s Terms and Conditions prohibits the display of our ads to users located outside the U.S. While we will not take action at this time, we request that you take steps to filter non-U.S. traffic from pages participating in the Yahoo! Publisher Network beta. If this problem is not resolved to our satisfaction by Monday, January 8th within 5 days of the date of this notice, your participation in the beta will be terminated pursuant to Section 15(b) of the Terms and Conditions. Whats the best thing to do at this point?
Geo target your YPN ads for US visitors only and then use adsense to pick up for international traffic. - Compu
I heard people still get banned for that? Also what do you reccomend for displaying only to USA visitors?
You can use phpadsnew to display the yahoo ads only to US visitors. phpadsnew is free but you have to purchase the ip address database to do geo-targeting.
Wow man I got the same email, I was reading yours, went to check my email and I just freaked out. I thought it was a termination. I'll be geotargetting my ads VERY soon! I thought there was no need for it because I had it a long time ago and took it off, oh well now it is. Actually you can get a database for free. http://www.maxmind.com What I don't get is why did they use email and not the new compliance manager?
I'm just curious what site or t ype of site did they include in the email? how many percent US traffic?
Theres no reason a YPN user shouldn't be using geotargeting scripts like phpadsnew or mysimpleads. Besides the risk of termination, you're losing your international clicks, since Yahoo will just drop them. If you geotarget you can send those clicks to AdSense and at least get something for them. I'll always take something over nothing . Matt
I'm pretty sure ypn has paid for int clicks before, but i agree with you. not worth the risk. BTW what benefit does mysimpleads over phpadsnew?
At the risk of sounding like an actor portraying a happy customer - mySimpleAds likely saved my bacon after I was drowning in international traffic over the holidays. It's a bit disheartening seeing your YPN income drop by 75%, but you know Yahoo wouldn't pay you for that part anyway. So, mySimpleAds would be my recommended Geotargeting solution of the day.
phpAdsNew is free script. If you need some help PM me or if you use MSN messenger I can help you over that.
Yup. 75% of the income were from international traffic so that was expected, and Yahoo wouldn't pay me that money anyway so no loss. I did see an increase in AdSense though, but since they tend to pay quite a lot less than YPN it never really made up for it. But, those are the rules and I don't want to get banned/piss off the advertisers so all is good.
Its strange though, because although i do have a lot of int clicks, they didn't subtract that much at the end. Perhaps luck?
I know awhile back there was a thread about whether they removed the international clicks daily or around pay time (monthly) - I can't recall though what the final result was...
I am very thankful that YPN gives warnings, and not just cancellations as Google does...I prefer to work with a system that at least gives the employees a chance.
" Thank you for your cooperation and call me once this has been done." For those who called yahoo, did they ask for anything? What do you need to provide them with?
damn, its saturday and no ones answering the phone, they said they'll terminate my account by monday, what do i do if no one is answering?
