According to AdSenseAdvisor Allowed Sites is We're starting to test a new feature that would let publishers choose between allowing any site to display ads with their pub-ID (no change from the current system), and authorizing only a specific list of sites to display their ads. This is separate from the existing Site Authentication feature. The team thinks this'll help address a number of issues we've heard feedback on, and we hope to release it to all publishers if the testing goes smoothly.
Here is what AdSenseAdvisor (the official AdSense spokesperson) said on "some other forum" about the issue:
Did anybody else notice this? I'm having a hard time figuring out why the one would affect the other, so it'd be nice to confirm if they are related, or just coincidence.
I think they probably rolled out a few changes at once. The "Allowed Sites" feature was somehow broken, so they rolled back everything they pushed out. It's pretty standard software development practice.
Adsense had a feature "Allowed Sites" but today when I logged into my account the feature seems to have been removed. Anyone know why or experienced the same?
I would really have to disagree with the above. A big company such as G, should never release anything "Public" then have to do a roll back. They were beta testing the Allowed Sites feature for months now. When a bigger company releases a new feature, then for whatever reason it's 'recalled' it just makes them seem amateur to me.
