The Web 2.0 Properties backlinks are really important these days and suggests that DP allow these services.
You can sell links on sites you own, you just can't sell links on sites you don't own (for example other people's blogs).
Are you serious? If the sole purpose of you posting on Web 2.0 properties is to get a non-editorially given backlink to your site, then its spam! Its the exact sort of link that Google is trying to get rid of with the iterations of the penguin algorithm (BTW, this is why I like forums like Digitalpoint as so many here think they are good links - I want all my competitors to come here to learn their SEO)
What if I tell you, we build quality blogs to link back to our site? Is that spam too? It's against the guidelines but they can't possibly know who is the owner. If you want to play by the rules, the whitehat way where you build 0 links and wait for people to link to you then don't expect to be so successful in life
It's this kind of attitude people have and then get hit due to Panda, Penguin or whatever update Google rolls out in the future. People assume Google is stupid and then cry when they lose rank. They have time and again identified footprints for manipulation and discounted them (or penalised sites if their webmaster/SEO has been involved in "very bad" activities). If you site's content is good and you market it right, then you will earn links. You don't need a megabucks budget either. These links will last, unlike the spam, self-built ones.
To be honest, I'm ranking one site #1 only with Scrapebox, the spam you are talking about, it's been like that for a while no panda no penguin, how about that? There's just too many factors involved but I can certainly tell you that if you are not going to take action, you won't come anywhere unless of course you are some authority like CNN or Search Engine Land or whatever.
So spamming is "taking action"? So you can't manage to do SEO and just spam, good for you. I'll stick with SEO. Yes, your spam will never get you the authority of those sites.
No, I was just implying that even with spam you're getting somewhere. I don't recommend it, it'll harm you in the long run but I was just checking how far I would go with that tool if I go loose on it. I'm not going to reply anymore as people interpret things different and we seem to be at different levels.
Fairly certain you can get a ton of links without asking people to link to you or spamming... Newish sub-domains only live about 18 months ago: Even my craptastic blog...
Yeah because the instant you publish your post on your newly started site you will get thousands of visitors out of the blue.
Well right... just saying you don't have to spam links (or even ask people to link to you) to have a successful site.
You attitude is you can't be successful without spamming. That's very short sighted. Look at the companies who spammed and got found out (the big ones, I'm not talking about the small companies who got SEO from idiot tinfoil hats). Sites become big because they have a good idea, they all started off as just a registered domain and then grew because genuine effort was put into it. Look up Matt Inman as he has openly documented what he did to become successful (yeah, he sometimes got hit by Google, but learnt from it and moved forward). Sure, he has natural talent, too. (Art and comedy.) If you find the right niche for you though, you can get success without spam. Don't expect to be an instant authority, but build up to that, gain Google's trust. It won't happen by trying to manipulate.
We have different attitudes and opinions towards this. Whether you want to link or not, I don't care, let this end.
Want biggest example of Big Companies which Blackhat is Apple. I recently tried out Apple iPad 2 and MAN IT SUCKS. I tough of going on diet during day and selling off funds I had planned on to hold to complete the education.... But Steve Jobs and APPLE sucks. They spam the entire internet using blackhat Social bookmarking tools. Even Dell do Blackhat using social tools and these websites must be penalized.
Lol... can you show some examples where Apple is spamming people's blog comments or something similar? lol
