Allow & Block Ads (Advertiser URLs) - Worth it?

Several weeks back I felt unhappy with the amount of low paying clicks I was getting. After some research I decided to block a series of URLs from my ads. Since that time my clicks have dropped through the floor but the few I do get pay about 3-4 times more than some of my better paying clicks did previously. It hasn't been long enough to tell if I'm making more at the end of the month yet, and my site is still very young, anyway.

What do you all think about blocking URL's and/or Ad Networks? Good or bad? Is it worth it in the long run in your experience?

    Thanks

I only block competitors that advertise. You can block certain advertisers from your website, but for what? Unless the ads are too extrusive for your site, then you block them.

Ya, that's what we do (just block competitors or people selling items closely related to our clients)

I run a site for kids and I block only ads that are threatining for kids or unrelated like get a fake ID or some like that. It is good to be able to filter bad adds and competition

Just got a list from a contact who has been working to weed out the low payers. Not sure where it came from.

I think competitive ad filter is for blocking competitor websites and other ads that you think shouldn't be seen by your visitors. There is no way it can be used to increase your adsense revenue.
Increasing adsense revenue and click through using competitive ad filter is just a myth, it is not possible in reality because google already shows the best paying ads on your sites. So when you block a certain ad that you think is paying less google fills in that space blanked by you with an advertiser that pays even lower than the site you blocked.

Thanks, that's a good point. I've decided to drop the filter.
