I went to see the new Spidey 2 weeks ago, and opted for a 9:40 PM show time, on a Tuesday. This is a preferred type of time for me, not that I am antisocial but I go to watch a movie and eat sweets, not to chat or otherwise socialize. Usually the theater is relatively empty, and quiet. My jaw dropped when I saw a young couple walk in with not one, not 2, but 3 very young kids. I mean all under 4 years old, way too young to even be up at 10 at night. Needless to say, the movie was interrupted by crying. Not a one of the 70 or so other movie goers, nor I, said anything to the parents during the movie. And I'm glad I didn't, as at the end of the move I noticed that there was a second couple with kids in tow exiting the theater. Who's kid was it that cried, I wondered? I asked an employee about this, and was informed that the company's policy only restricted small children from R rated movies. She did tell me that normally they would have an employee patrolling the theaters, but everyone was out sick that night. Man, it feels good to vent this in a public place. Anyone else want to share your thoughts or experiences?
Frank At the risk of being flamed, I agree with you. It was not the time or place for small children. Now that we have no smoking zones everywhere we need kid and cell phone free zones also. No! I am not joking or making fun of you.
I agree with you also. It always pisses me off when a baby starts crying in a public place, especially in movies. I know they can't help it, but hey, I'm pretty sure most people don't enjoy the sound of crying either.
i saw Pirates of the carribean at like 9 and there was a guy with 3 3 year old kids sitting next to me
flame away. as an owner (j/k on word choice...proud owner) one small child there is no way in heck I would take her to a movie at that hour...REGARDLESS of how bad I wanted to see the film...that's what matinees are for!!!!!!! no better yet, get a babysitter, grandparents, whatever. fine if the kids want to see it but not after 7pm IMHO. both sets of parents should have been reported to child protective services (also kidding) but still! where is the common courtesy these days? makes me followed closely by 'sick'
I agree with you guys and added to that it will affect to the growth of the babies I mean it's not good for their health sleeping late at night, especially going out late....
I used to own a baby too, but I have had it upgraded to a larger model (haha). And it really is the baby I feel for in this whole thing, they had it much worse than us, being forced to stay up so late. Happens all the time though, how about the parents that are getting mad because kids are fussy while out shopping at 10 pm? After being dragged from store to store for several hours, I gotta tell you I would be cranky too! Might even cry and throw a fit till someone took me home and put me to bed.
we are currently in the upgrade process I remember being dragged to parents friends houses late...no fun. just put him down on our bed the friends would say! like hell! you will!! and movies...today they are so friggin loud, it's no wonder if you aren't causing hearing damage! maybe for infants only though.
People that bring babies or really young children to theaters don't think. Bringing their kids to a movie is a cheaper form of babysitting than they would have done if they hired a neighbor's kid. And just think, they didn't take their kid to see Shrek, they took them to an adult movie. If you go to theaters these days you are just going to be in for a disappointment.
I just saw an article about Regal cinemas I think...featured patrons are given this remote that has 4 things that can be reported to managers without them having to leave their seat...I don't think loud children was one of them though
I don't mind as long as the kids aren't noisy/crying. It just detracts too much. I know it can't be helped sometimes, but when the parents make no move to shush them or take them outside, that's when I get annoyed!!!
