Does if your No.1 for the allinanchor within Google mean that you have a lot of backlinks pointing to you with this anchor text?

I have a page which has over 200 links to it, it's keyword rich content, but all of the links are from forums with the anchor text I am optimising the page on. It's currently sat at #107 in Google and not budging.

i guess it should do - but i was number 1 (for allinanchor)with relatively few links (and am still sat at 250 for normal serp- i suppose the amount of other sites with with those keywords in their anchor text would have a large bearing on the situation.

The problem is the discounting of the forum links

Internal anchor links are better and if you have a few sites cross .... OK? :)

Fluke, it wouldnt be for a Florida type keyword would it?

The keywords I am optimising is 'Florida villas' I was in the top 20 now Im #105 - this page has 235 BL's to it at the moment, mostly forum links, on page I have the keywords used within the content, title, description tags, so I don't think it's onpage.

    These KW's are either;

    1) In a sandbox due to the sudden increase in backlinks
    2) Needs more IBL and BL's with 'Florida villas' anchor text

I'll go back to the drawing board I think.

    Darren :)

wwwhomes - go look at the big experiment

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=256&page=122&pp=10

which is all about forum links - when we were on just forum links it behaved exactly the same as what is happening to you - it went to 15 and then dropped away to way out of site.

Then on August 18, after discussion, we appealed for help from others and we pointed 72 anchor links across 38 domains at it.

We now have the same number of domains but 200+ links [because of blogs etc] at it

The site immediately jumped back to 15 and is currently 20

On the basis of this I would say that just forum links do not work and may have a detrimental effect.

I am watching a similar effect withthe ski site [which is in my sig] and have been working hard by increasing the pages and other to reverse the slide - today I am seeing a move back up +4 and I will drop my forum sigs if this does not continue.

So you need IMHO to spread the domains and IBLs, and do as you say with the internals - but also, may I suggest, look at the OBLs
    :)

would it be safe to say allinanchor may just count the number of anchor links not the value of these links (Pr). If so this would help with the diff in actual serp rankings vs allinanchor rankings (along with the other 100+ algo's).

Is there a tool that shows your anchor text links and their Pr value. It would be interesting to compare your site to your competion this way.
