This thread sounds like the 4AM mosque calling all muslims for prayer.

 

For me it's not hate...it's exasperation. I tire of seeing cut and paste posts from some religious text with the expectation of the poster that the information be taken as truth just because it came from their religious text. I mean, I could copy and paste lines from Harry Potter, but that doesn't make it any more true.

I have no problem with those that have faith. However, if one wishes to proselytize (which is most definitely what the OP was doing), I would like some actual evidence to support the claims being made; and outrageous claims require outrageous evidence to be taken seriously.

How about any controlled, repeatable scientific studies that lend credence to the existence of *any* god. It would be a good start.

The discussion of God is pretty much outside science. It is a philosophical question at best, and philosophy is not science. Religion and God are not the same thing however.

 

I know, but the resident slave asked what evidence I was looking for. Besides, even philosophy has standards for a good argument, and religious scripture isn't it. Quoting scripture is really just an appeal to authority, but scripture is only recognized as an "authority" by those that already believe - which does not make for a good argument.

I am also aware that religion and god are separate entities. However, the religion in question deals primarily with God, and the interpretation of him/her/it. Before debating the merits of this particular interpretation of God, I think one should be able to make a plausible case for the existence of any god.

 

He keeps ignoring the truth. I dont blame him, religion can damage ones brain...
