All this Banning Bothers Me...

    Hello,

I hardly ever post here but I am a frequent lurker. Many of the posts here have helped me....

A little bit of background... We currently pull in $x,xxx per month since Jan 06. This is only about 25% of our current revenue but it is becoming an important revenue stream.

I am very bothered by the "seemingly" rash nature in which google is banning publishers. In my opinion it would behoove G to be more detailed in explaining why a publisher is banned. This attitude is moving me to use other ad systems.

    Why won't Google listen?

First up, congratulations on your earnings. As a recommendation, I'd keep in contact with one of their reps and simply put, notify them if you observe any strange activity. Your account should be in good standing, and in the event you do somehow get banned, use your previous communications as a reference.

Remember you can always appeal a ban, and Google isn't known to do rash things (with a few exceptions, like Expertu). When you're hearing these erratic banning stories, you're only hearing one side of the argument. You're just hearing the vocal minority. Truth is, the number of publishers that're being retained are outnumbering those who're banned.

I am a member of another large forum about Adsense... over there, there is NO talk about any rash of bannings.. sure, once in a while we see a post from somone with a history of 4 posts and speaking in broken english complaining "why me gotten ban from google" ?

after reading (i think) all of the "I got banned" posts here at DP for the last two months, i FIRMLY believe that there is a revenue-sharing click-fraud issue going on.. of course, you also have the "why me gotten ban from google" mixed in, but those are to be expected.. Those darn Indian's.. dey crwazy!

I dont think Google is acting "rash" - however I do think that they could handle the situation with long-time publishers a LOT better. If they arent careful they will end up chasing away a lot of good publishers - Yahoo and MSN Adcenter are coming up soon, so Google will no longer be the only guy on the block.. The bigger they are.. the harder they fail..

    ASA, are you reading this??

They are not going to tell you all this information the same way you are not going to tell us what security systems/cameras you have at your house.

They dont need to tell you HOW you got banned - but if there was an IP that caused you to get banned, they should reveal that information to you in order for you to be able to investigate.

It could be specifics like that information that could lead to 'clickfraud' initiators and organised groups being taken through legal procedings.

Obviously, I am just saying that something should be revealed in order to understand a ban when webmasters that have not clicked on their own ads or asked others to click on them are at a loss how they got banned etc. It would certainly help to alleviate many concerns and uncertainty around publishers who get banned - without disclosing any propriety issues.

(Is the propriety issues revolved around invasion of Privacy? - Do google gather data via a keylogger that they have done a deal with all anti-virus companies to not flag up? ... obviously those questions just came to mind now but if Google dont reveal any information then are they taking liberties against the privacy of a person - something that would definately adversely affect their brand name and turn millions of people away from using any services of Google... all conspiracy theorists should ignore that conjecture as it was only to illustrate a point :p)

I agree. What kind of an excuse is "invalid clicks"?

They abuse their email templates, Google can't even try explain their reasons.

    Life is unfair.

Google has now way of knowing who is out to rob them just like you don't know who wants to break into your house.

Also are you suggesting that Google release information which they know could be used against them in a court of law?

    Sorry. Hate it. Bummer.

    But diversify!

You would not invest billions of dollars in ONE stock would you?

(you can try YPN and MSN (soon))

If Google gave everyone the exact reason why everyone is banned it would be alot easier for people that abuse adsense to get away with it.
