All the rankings dropped

Hi all. I have a website (about a year old) but I started working on building links (mainly article submission and link exchanges) about 4-5 months ago. And it once ranked quite well for some keywords.

But I found that all of them dropped to zero for these keywords in last time months. This happens to the main www website and all the other 7 subdomains.

Did anyone experience this before? Will this be a penalty?

I think I have never done something blackhat. So I am not sure if anything has happened .....

If you sold or bought any links this could be the reason.

Is your site still being indexed? (Just do a simple site:yoursitehere.com and if no pages appear it's not being indexed)

yes it is still indexed. And I have sold one to two links.

But How can Google know I have sold links?????

I deliberately put some links to other website at the very beginning....

So there are always some outbound links....

I also suspect that but in fact I don't expect a site with about a year old will still be in the sand box. Though I only started the link building about 4 months ago.

May be it is also related to the PR update that other DP members said in another thread

check your onsite seo. its hard to get a site deranked for building links (still possible) but onsite seo its very easy. like paid links (they might think your link exchanges are paid links).

Or maybe your targeted keywords are very competitive in that matter.. Just continue getting quality backlinks for your site.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I will double check for the on site SEO first and that continue building backlinks to the site.

And luckily I don't rely on this website for earnings ....
