All my sites has the same IP, does it affect the ranking?

Hi, I own about 50 of my own web sites which I use for Adsense and Affiliate marketing. I host all my sites on 1 server. I have 3 IP addresses available but only use one at the moment. I have two questions:

    1. Will it have an affect on my ranking if all my sites have the same IP
    2. If I link one site to the other, will those links be ignored because the sites have the same IP?

i have the same issue i have so many websites on the same ip, google said's that it dont matter if ip is the same, but i think it does, anyways google is now a lot more fussy about what it considers a link, since the last algorthm update the last few weeks, i have seen google only pick up 1 link, but msn and yahoo have picked up 32 links to my site.

same IP may same as sharing a same web hosting
also same as many users are sharing a huge blogger web site

so I think it is not a big matter for sharing a same IP.

If there is one thing I have learned so far is not to put all your eggs in one basket. That should answer your questions :)

I've always been kind of paranoid with the multiple domain same IP scenario. If all domains are registered to the same person that could set-up a red flag as being a link farm if you're aggressively linking your sites together. Of course, that's just my opinion.

Thanx for all the feedback. I also asked the question on other forums and so far it seems like hosting with the same IP will not influence your ranking but trying to link sites with the same IP might be a problem.

Links from different IP's are better, but just about any link is a good link.

No, it won't affect ranking. It will affect ranking if you link from one site to another that is hosted on the same server.

I used the tool somebody suggested to look at the PR rating of my site.
Could somebody please explain the logic of this:
    I went to
http://seopen.com/seopen-tools/pagerank.php and looked at the PR rating of three of my sites. The results were:
    http://www.digiprop.co.za PR0
    http://www.hilux4x4.co.za PR2
    http://www.passive-income.co.za PR2

    But if I go to
http://www.freewebsubmission.com/link-popularity.html and do a link popularity check on the same three results I see that
www.hilux4x4.co.za have the least number of links.
www.digiprop.co.za more and www.passive-income.co.za the most.

So how can www.digiprop.co.za have a PR of ZERO if it has more links than www.hilux4x4.co.za which has a PR of two?

Because it's not just quantity, it's quality too. You can get 10,000 links from sites from sites with no PR and it would have little to no effect on yours. If you get 3 or 4 links from sites with extremely high PR, then yours can jump up pretty easily.

However, PR has no value on the quality of your website unless you're planning on selling links.

The other thing about PR is that it takes a long time to update. So you may find that when the PR update runs, your lower site gets a higher PR.

But as the previous poster says, PR is pretty much worth ignoring!

    Hmm ...

Interlinking a high number of domains on same IP, same official registrant and with very similar content used to get people penalized in the past on Google. Most probably today they are just devalued automatically, but why risk it? You will definitely gain no benefit on serps anyway.

If content is unique on each, then it's a different story.

I differ on it.. I have hosted 5 sites of mine on a single IP but I have never seen it devalued.. (they all have been interlinked)
