Okay so im busy building a highly relevant, high quality landing page so I can compete and get a good quality score. Then I come across this, which is very discouraging... A definate competitor of ours... keyword phrase "microsoft sharepoint consulting". AD Copy... Microsoft Sharepoint 2007 www.netsoft-usa.com Netsoft USA Gold Certified Partner Setup, installation, web parts dev http://www.netsoft-usa.com/?gclid=COuLyIL54IoCFQkGQQodNhih0A Notice there isnt a single mention of "sharepoint" on the very short landing page. My landing page is massive with lots of information, im realizing now probably too much information. In the hope this will help increase my QS. Yet this page...doesnt mention the product in question even once. IN fact the one product that is mentioned on the landing page is Microsoft Dynamics, which isnt really related to sharepoint at all in any way. Am i missing something here? This baffles me and makes me worry on how i will be competing with stuff like this. Do they just spend assloads of cash so they get bumped to the top of the line?
They could just be paying out the a** to keep that running, hard to tell without having access to the account or any historical data. You've seen your target - now all that's left to do is crush them
I like the way you talk my friend. But alas, I'm too green to take on a keyword that competative. At least not yet
I've talked with potential clients before who dump huge amounts of money into AdWords without really having a clue how it's performing or whether they're getting an ROI or not. I think some of these companies are stuck in an offline advertising frame of mind in that 'We have no idea how effective our advertising is, but our competition are doing it so we feel we have to.'
Yup.....you're 100% right. It's a shame how people burn their money. Never tried adwords and think they can just set up campaigns and let them run like google sais. It's a shame
Remember, though, that you can definitely outflank them without having to spend barrels of cash - they might be paying ridiculous amounts to stay at ad position #1 and get few sales, while you could bid go get in to positions 4-6, spend a lot less due to better QS, and rake in the cash! -T
True, but it's frustrating that people that don't know what they're doing drive up the CPC's - it costs them money, it costs us money and the only winners are Google...
The sad reality is that this will always be part of the AdWords game. Ever since money was invented people have found ways to waste it...AdWords helps people do that faster than ever before!
Just watch them burn their cash whilst you make every penny count and have the satisfied feeling knowing it
Maybe they were just experimenting? I don't see their ad in the query you mentioned. Maybe they terminated it because it was losing them money...
Keep building up your quality score! Most, if not all of the big companies, don't bother, and through money away, because they can. However, at least we can go head to head with the big fish. All we have to do is get high CTR, high QS and make our ads relivant.
