Well the PR do not change your ranking in any way , so if you have pr 0 or pr3 you will still have same traffic from search engine , but you can sell links and earn some money (i wont recommand you to do that because if google finds out you will be penalise big time) , better read about pagerank on wikipedia link here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pagerank .
PR alone does not guarantee high SERPS--you could have high PR based on some good backlinks to your site but still not have necessarily good SERPS which are really, at the days end, all that I care about.
yes, if you have lets say for example pr 5 and sell 10 external links on it you could make 100$ / month
u mean, no follow is still okay? i am a bit confused now LOL for me, PR means nothing to me.. All I want is traffic LOL
NOT thrue, just look at the PR if you do a search. Many pages with low PR or even PR 0 are at the top.
find one with pr0 on the top spot of any major keyword... i think the reason some get confused and think pr means nothing when they do see a major keyword with a pr0 page on top but then forget to realize that toolbar pr is updated every 3 months or so, that pr0 page thats taking that top spot is probably being linked by a hompeage with high pr etc... i have thousands of pages on #1 spots that have no pr and no inbound links, not even from my site as there indexed from my sitemap , but there not for high competition keywords.
Yes I think PR it's important to your profit. Don't be fooled, because it tells how popular your site is. Although it doesn't stop traffic to your site. But visitors are now aware about sites with PR. It kind of assure them of good relationship to the site owner. So I heard.
Itsr better to have PR than no PR at all. However if you are doing well in SERPS , there is no reason to clamour for PR. I have a PR0 site doing quite well in SERPS and making around $3/day through adsense
if u have high pr then your new content will be crawl by google fast. and your serp going up. u also can sell link in high rates if u have high pr.
I have heard over and over again that PR doesnt directly affect your google ranking! I dont know why this is repeated over and over again by many SEO "experts". Google clearly states that Your sites PR will affect your positions on the google searches. For starters, check this page on google help center http://www.google.com/corporate/tech.html "PageRank reflects our view of the importance of web pages by considering more than 500 million variables and 2 billion terms. Pages that we believe are important pages receive a higher PageRank and are more likely to appear at the top of the search results." And this other page... http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=70897&topic=15256 "When a user enters a query, our machines search the index for matching pages and return the results we believe are the most relevant to the user. Relevancy is determined by over 200 factors, one of which is the PageRank for a given page." I'm fairly new to the world of google and such like, but i really dont understand why i constantly hear people say... PR doesnt affect your serps. It clearly does.
Well said, buckyuk. It's amazing how many DPers embrace the "PR is useless" error, in direct contradiction to Google's clear statements about PR's importance in the search engine rankings. Keep it up. Sooner or later some will come around to the truth. If I read another ridiculous post like "Forget PR, focus on SERPs" — as if there is no connection?!! — I may get into projectile hurling! Green rep coming for embracing truth rather than the DP party line.
I agree with Buckyuk. Ultimately the two concepts - SERP rankings and PR are directly related. I think the common misconception is that PR is the only variable in ranking highly, which it clearly is not. Saying that though, as Google explains, "PageRank also considers the importance of each page that casts a vote, as votes from some pages are considered to have greater value, thus giving the linked page greater value. We have always taken a pragmatic approach to help improve search quality and create useful products, and our technology uses the collective intelligence of the web to determine a page's importance." Ultimately , read between the lines, a page's importance (and related to its PR), is the quantity and quality of backlinks pointing to that page. More quality backlinks of relevance, greater the PR, and the higher Google places your site in the search rankings. So to my mind, the two concepts can never be seperated as they are a function of each other. Add in the other myriad variables, and voila, you have the recipe for ranking on Google.
