all indexed pages as backlinks?

While I was studying my competitors site on my niche I was checking the backlinks he has and I came across a site linking back to his site that has thousands of pages indexed and my competitor has a - probably paid link - on the front page of that site so that link is on every page that is indexed in search engine..

SO.. my question is: if I get a link back to my site from such a site that has thousands of pages indexed, is each one of those indexed pages counted as a backlink by search engine?

Hi i mant to clarify something, Search engines and specially Google Prefer backlinks coming from Different Class C Ip.
and a big quantity of links coming from same Ip (i'm not even telling from same site) may be considered as spamming and may get your competitor banned even if it's found that all are spaming links.
High quality backlinks (diff class C Ip) are better ranked so try to avoid that that looks like a sort of doorway pages.
and one other suggestion, try to find Related sites for better SERP
