All in One SEO

I need some input in configuring the all in one seo plugin for wordpress. I encountered one seo expert who advised against making anything noindex, including tags. He also advised against using categories for meta key words. Now I had my configurations set so that tags and archive pages are noindex, and I used categories for meta key words.

What really is the best policy?

    Thanks,
    Crystite.

Its good to keep 'archive' as noindex, but keeping 'tags' noindex might be a bad idea.

I like to keep tags as noindex too. If you just build more content then your blog will be more indexed when it really needs to be indexed: your posts!

I thought All In One SEO was no longer supported? I use Platinum SEO, it's far better than AIO.

It is still supported, they just released a new version but I haven't upgraded yet.

I would put noindex on the tags as well, better yet, I wouldn't even use them, otherwise you will just end up with a bunch dup content pages.

I remember many SEO sites recommending "noindex" of category and tag pages a long time ago, but even Google themselves said that if you are not "nofollowing" those pages, nothing bad will happen. Google keeps in mind that not everyone is into SEO - there are people in the general population running blogs who have never heard of "nofollow" or SEO for that matter, and they wouldn't be penalized for these things.
