Meta Title Tag– How It Should Be?

¥ Length: Title tags should be a maximum of 70 characters long, including spaces. Less is even better.

¥ Put your important keywords first and least important words at last.

¥ Use pipes | to separate important (keyword) phrases (no commas, underscores, dashes or any other punctuation

¥ Keep your important phrases short and simple. Leave out words that would make it read like a sentence. (E.g., and, if, but, then, etc.)

¥ DON'T DUPLICATE Title Tags: They must be written differently for every page. Don't mass replicate your title tags.

¥ Make It Relevant: Title tags must be written to be descriptive of the content on the page. (E.g., the About Page would be:

About Us | Important Keywords | Company Name

    Or

Important Keywords | About Us | Company Name.

But I have read somewhere that we should use " ," instead of " |" pipe for keyword separation in title

I have use | as keyword separator, Google changed it in - , the URL is listed in Google as "first keyword - second keyword" instead of "first keyword | second keyword". Why so?

Google do not need to change your Pipe. its may be a problem with your theme or someone except may change it.

Some important meta tags that one must use in the webpage are:

    1. Title Tag: <title>The title of the Page</title> (Unique title for your page)

Limit: Google typically displays the first 50-60 characters of a title tag, or as many characters as will fit into a 512-pixel display.

    2. Description Tag: <meta name = "Description" Content="Description of the Page">

    Limit: Roughly 155 Characters

    3. Keyword Tag: <meta name="Keyword" Content="Your Keywords">

Will you still use meta keywords though? We have stopped using them from past 2-3 years :)
