I had #1 ranking for most of my major keywords on a site that is 5 years old. Then the site went down for 7 days in mid August and i've regained some of the listings but none are #1 anymore. Can someone tell me how long it's going to take to get my #1 rankings back or do I have to start from scratch? Is there a penalty for having a site go down on google?
Yes, There is a penalty for everything which hurts people's faith in your website and your reputation in people. That is why Google is called search engine for the people. For more knowledge, There is a Penalty for Repeated or long downtime, Bad Server speed, bad websites hosted on same IP address, website linked to bad neighborhood, un-natural backlinks growth and many more similar things. To regain your positions, you don't have to start from the scratch, You just need to be good from now, control your uptime and after some time Google with give you back your lost popularity in search results in few steps. Hope it helps.
I had the same problem as yours. Mine had never been able to get back to the top 1 ranking. What I did was to sell the site.
This is the game in SEO with Google. We must monitor SERP and the quality of web site. The solution is link building. Good luck Blog.
Hello.. I had one go down for 15 days...needless to say my ranking dropped a good bit now (3 months later) its slowly coming back and traffic is still growing so.. build more backlinks on relevant sites if anything to get traffic flowing for sales.. laterz malcolm
Guess you just have to wait and you'll be back in the top soon, if your site really deserves it then google will put it there.
Its a good message to people who have their important websites on dodgy hosts. 15 days downtime is going to tell google you've closed it down!
Down time effecting the site ranking, but no need to worry u will be back within a month if continue the SEO process properly
