I was not sure about the correct url of these directories and tried to search in Google, but seems that these very known directories are disappeared from the Google SERPS.

    Anyone knows why?

Which Google will never be able to stop. There are limits for everything, if G crosses that limit users may just stop adapting their web sites for G and turn to Yahoo/MSN.

In a nutshell its how things are sold as well, must be very very careful not to offend them.

One of the killers was trying to sell something that isn't yours, and referring to a site being something that it never was officially said to be.

Lots of lessons have been learned, lots of people have actually improved their sites quite drastically, lots of people have actually moved on.
