Dunno if this is new, but I just say an ad on TV for a sequel to AVP! Official website: www.avp-r.com Looks like the battle gets into cities rather than the underground temple that the first one was based in. Looks really cool, only downside is that it comes out on Christmas day lol.
I am a big fan of the two franchises and judging by the trailer, the second film seesm to be more violent and exciting compared to their first one.
This is just sad... 2-3 good movies each year and then hundreds of crappy action movies, most of them sequels
both these dreaded creatures are suitable for another part, i will be eargerly waiting to see the part-2.
The biggest mistake they ever made was making AVP suitable for teens. Did the writer/director/anybody see the original movies, the genre is sci-fi horror. You need to see some blood. Hopefully the second film will kick start the series back to life.
Wel the part 1 kept us glued to the seat .. lets hope that the 2nd part also live upto the expectations
WARNING: THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS I had a few hours free today so I made myself go out and see it. I hate to say it, but the movie didn't live up to my expectations. The Good Very cool fighting scenes, especially between the predator and alien/predator hybrid...very very cool. Very cool new predator toys! Specifically the laser netting and blue acid stuff that desintigrates whatever it touches. Very cool storyline between the opening sequence and the ending. I loved how the aliens raided the hospital and just multplied liked crazy with the pregnant women (4 aliens popping out of 1 pregnant lady! lol). Very unexpected how they killed off alot of the main stars. Especially the hot chick, I love how she is just suddenly killed off without any warning - I really didn't see that coming. I loved the predator planet! That was very cool! Can definately see more movie potential based on that world. The Bad and Ugly The opening storyline has a major flaw - that being when the predator vessel get's attacked by the aliens right at the start, it doesn't fit well with the previous predator movies - that being that a predator that survives uses his armband to send out a distress signal rather than do the big boom bomb that they have done in every previous movie - can you say WTF?! The storyline at the end is too cliche. I can't express how unsurprised I was to find the government nuking everything in sight and then walking away with predator technology, with a mysterious woman taking it at the end and using stupid lines indicating a sequel is sure to follow. LAME. Back to the opening - the predator that answers the distress call. Wouldn't it have made more sense if a team of them went when he knew the ship had several predators on board to start with and they all died? Speaking of which, in the original AvP there appears to be about 30-40 predators on board the ship right at the end, but you only see like 4 of them in the sequel There was horrible lighting/visual effects. Most of the movie is done in the middile of the night with no lights, so you get very little visuals on the aliens/predators. BOO! You only actually see a half-decent shot of the alien/predator hybrid right at the very end. I personally felt like they had a very low budget for their special/visual effects, there was a big lack of them. There was a horrible lack of acting. The movie overall has a "low budget" feeling. They cut alot of corners, left alot out that should have been included, and there was no acting talent whatsoever. Overall I give the movie a 5/10. /END SPOILERS
