    Hi,

I'm looking on getting the Alien films but what's the difference between:

Original, Special Edition and Directors cut.

Are they all basically the same?

Nope not really. The original verio was what was shown in theaters, and is probably the best known version. The special edition, and directors cut are the same film content, but the special edition was remastered with dolby surround sound and is probably the best version available, at least until a new master is made for Blu-Ray.

Exactly! I guess I don't have to explain further.

It doesn't matter for me whether it's original, special or directors cut as long as it's high quality and original?
