If Alibaba wants to buy Yahoo, what will happen to all the great news and tips which made the portal portal worldwide?

If Alibaba buys Yahoo then I suspect that Yahoo will die and fast . Yahoo has always been struggling a takeover by Microsoft would be the only way out .

I though Microsoft was on lock if ever something happens to Yahoo. And now Alibaba is interested. Maybe they mean Yahoo! China?

Nothing to be strange. If they have enough money they might show their interest to purchase yahoo. Now it up to present owner of yahoo they will sold it or not.

Yahoo originally bought a 40% stake in Alibaba but with a clause in the contract that gives the owner of Alibaba the option to buy the rest of the shares and this looks like what will happen.Yahoo cannot survive by itself so it needs to get in bed with another partner this is looking more likely to be with Alibaba rather than Microsoft.

Yahoo is barely standing not to talk of when Alibaba buys it. I think its a rumor anyway, until it is bought then its just a news.

Alibaba is not really interested in Yahoo but rather the 49% of alibaba Yahoo owns. It is probably the single best investment Yahoo has ever made.

Alibaba's business model doesn't go with what the rest of Yahoo is: a content portal. Alibaba is in e-commerce and Yahoo's news, games and email sites won't add much value to Alibaba.

If Alibaba is buying all of Yahoo, it is likely to keep the 49% stake in itself and divest/spin off the rest.
