I took a quick look--rather amusing. I don't know that I've seen that many cookie requests from one page in ages. The search bar is not on the title page. And when you make an entry, it tells you (if this applies) that you can't use the service because you didn't accept their cookies. Thank you but no thank you. Bzzzzzt!
It is interesting but... it is probably not too correct. Like Alexa it probably should be used as a tool and not an end-all-be-all. It also says that Google only serves 2.1 million pages per day. That seems way low.
I think Alexa rating are totally worthless. I have a site that i am still working on, and it has went from nothing to 80k with in three weeks. Yet the site is not done and the only hits come from the people that are working on it.
Do the people working on it have the Alexa toolbar installed? Alexa isn't worthless, but it sure is NOT great!
It seems (IMHO) that Alexa as well as Ranking.com can only show what any sampling can show and nothing more. Considering how extensive the WWW is and how small a percentage each of these are in relative terms, I believe we can pretty much agree that the results should be taken in context. Just a thought...
If using Alexa to judge a potential site to advertise on (or to purchase), keep in mind that there are tools for sale that will artificially increase Alexa rankings. Geir
