Alexa is for fun ~ Not much we can do with alexa.... Unless if your really care with Alexa's ranking for your website..
I must admit that I've become a little obssessed with Alexa's Traffic Ranking for my site but it's doesn't actually seem to be that important in the real world. Their TR is collected and collated by those with the Alexa toolbar then some calculations are performed to see how much of the internet browsing population that covers. So in effect is just an approximation IMHO. Cheers, p.
Alexa popularity issue is a long debate. Wait a minute and someone will ask you why, for hell, you need it. Well, it's for hot or not.
So many peaple take Alexa so seriasly now, they think that google page rank and the alexa rank means The best things in the world. I know many of peaple who call me up wanting to sell me listings in there directorys for my business and they say for example "Our google pagerank is 6 your site will benafit so much from being in the directory" , then i reply "well my sites PR8 so.. There is no need to be in your directory thanks, bye" , they also say before i put the phone down "Our Alexa rank is 35,000+ wich means were really good blah blah" , and they charge on average $800 per year to be in the directory again..... See,the Alexa is so easy to fool, but any way you wanted to know how popular Alexa is... Check, Alexa's. Alexa rating
well, its all about traffic.. the more you get the more you place high. till now, it was fun for me tracking my alexa rankings, but, im now taking it seriously as its related to my incoming traffic. Though you can increase it with some autosurfe/annon traffics, but they are bad for Adsense.
What is Alexa read this you read the empty space, well that about sums 'A' up a blank analyzer producing empty data that can be rigged right from your own PC you can get your site to rank around 20,000 on the ratings An empty misleading tool, that can be manipulated by anybody, anytime
I just use Alexa search to find related sites. Somehow, I also give more importance to Alexa because the client I work for is always concerned about the Alexa rank of his sites.
Sometimes I am using Alexa to check the ranking of other websites especially when making link exchanges.
Alexa is probably the 4th most popular search engine behind Google, Yahoo, and MSN. Their traffic rating is used by some people, so it does somewhat matter to some people. Also, a high Alexa traffic rank, does lead to Alexa linking to your site from a high PR page. Thus, it doesn't hurt to have a high rank.
I use Alexa for almost all of my searches. It helps me a lot. i don't have to go looking for rankings separately.
I like Alexa for my site - because it works really well to my benefit. Since I have a membership site which encourages return visits I get pretty low scores with minimal effort. I think that is not always a great gauge though, because there are some sites that are much more successful than mine, that don't have the lower scores.
alexa is used in text-link-ads determination of how much text ads should be sold for. It is also listed in a lot of other ad websites (adbrite) so that alone means it is a factor in terms of advertising. Granted it isn't the biggest factor, but a factor nonetheless.
Hello.... Whether Alexa is good or not depends on the individual whom uses their services and for what practical purpose. I use it as it shows the ranking of my sites by others whom have the toolbar. To me there are many webmasters and general people who look at this for making decisions as to add sites in my directories so I enjoy the snipets they provide. thx malcolm
alexa only counts your hits with helping of people who installs the alexa toolbar. that's all it's a popular search engine
Yep thats true...i have told this so many time with some proof of my websites... http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=164083&page=4 If you have 10 visitors, and they all click 10 pages each...then alexa will concider it 100 visitors!!!
there's certain cases it's useful. If you're looking into advertising on a webmaster-related site that doesn't have a very good alexa rating, then it probably doesn't have that much traffic, since a higher proportion of webmasters have the alexa toolbar than other people. But you're right, a webmaster related site with a high rating may have a lot of traffic, or a handful of members have the toolbar. But still, I think you'd be pretty hard pressed to manipulate your way into the top 10,000 sites on alexa. Maybe I'm wrong, if I am i'd like to see it.
