Here is the problem. I have a website. It had 1,100,000 rating with something like 50 visits each day. Just recently i completely changed my front page. Not redone but completely created new page......ever since my ALEXA rating is 12,000,000 and i have 3 times more people comming to my site..totaling about 150 visits each day. i don't get it?? can someone explain. maybe ALEXA need to crawl new site? and it takes time??? Alexa is slow at changing its rank. Just show the URL to a few people with Alexa toolbar installed and you will see some ranking changes. Unbelievably, but Alexa rank's may be based on the visits of a few people only...
Never bother about the alexa ranking as it can be influenced by people accessing your site with the alexa enabled tool bar.
i get the same problem. it quite embarrassing! before i put alexa ranking widget in my blog, but as the rank is messed up, i remove the widget .
Don't sweat it. Just worry about getting traffic and making money, or whatever your site does. Whatever clout you get from Alexa can be more of a factor as you move up.
