Someone offered me a domain with Alexa traffic rank of 300,000.

Is there any correlation between this and the amount of traffic?

I guess there is but any way to estimate daily uniques from this?

    Thanks

NEVER value anything based on alexa rank! Alexa rank is corrupt and oldschool.

Surely it has some value. This site ranks no 2 on the Google search and had over 3000 backlinks.

Don't trust Alexa; you can artificially alter the numbers.

It's surely not Alexa that stands behind those statistics :)

Yes, it has. But it is not difficult to tweak too.

In those numbers category (less than 100 000 on alexa) it is easy to artificially inflate the alexa rank, by having the toolbar installed on your browser and visiting your own site often enough.

so, it is not a traffic proof.
however, if you trust the seller, then it indicates his site has some traffic indeed.

In proportion, more US surfers have the toolbar than non-US, so if your site is US oriented or not 300 000 does not mean the same traffic.

For a non-US visitors site i'd give 300 000 on alexa as around 3000 visitors daily.

but keep in mind the seller may have artificially inflated the alexa rank.

That about right. I have a site with a ~280,000 rank & 1,800 US visits/day. It all depends on how many of your visitors have the Alexa toolbar installed .... & different topics will attract more or less people with the toolbar installed.

Toolbar users probably fit a profile but I'm not sure if that's more likely to be geeks or noobs.

70% of the traffic is non-US.

If it had 1000 visitors per day then its worth it to me. Maybe I'll take a gamble...

Is Alexa safe? I read that it's spyware. Is that true?

alexa ranks are not true determinants of traffic! better get some traffic details from the google anylitics etc to get some real traffic data!:)

You should not worry about ranking but on how much your site is making you. It does not matter how many visitors you get if your not making money. That is the true ranking
