    it helps boost your ego to show that you have a lower alexa ranking that your neighbor.

    Alexa rank is easily manipulated so its not really a good measure of traffic. If you install the toolbar yourself and just play around with your site, you will notice that your rank will decrease a lot without necessarily having any other traffic. Its ok to use for basic monitoring, but cetainly don't rely upon it.

    No, it doesn't get extra traffic, but if its high you get better rates for paid reviews. It's also one of the factors that determine the prices at text-link-ads.com.

    alexa rank is indeed useful.
    at least for these two monetizing reasons:
    1. prices at text-link-ads
    2. if you're a member of PayPerPost (get paid posting post at your blog), some opportunities (usually high paid ones) specify a maximum Alexa rank.

    Alexa can be manipulated like Google as well. Not that trustworthy though. If you want to boast, boast your Sitemeter stats :p

    I tried the ALEXA checker on their website and I receive such info:

    Gamesterstalk.com has a traffic rank of: 270,978.
    How can I compare it... How bad is such a rank? What would be a good Alexa rank?

    No. Alexa is still working. Check your site again and if it does not update your site, try to reconfigure alexa.
