Is Alexa relevant? It just seems like it could be easily manipulated and serve to offer skewed stats since x percentage actually use alexa toolbar.
Nah most Alexa is crap unless you're REALLY REALLY low, and even then it's still pretty much crap. Aaron Wall posted about it a long while ago...I'm just too lazy to dig up the article lol...
Of course it's junk, but it can still be used as a selling point for advertisements to the alexa toolbar uneducated.
sometimes alexa did not match with the pagerank. some times, my predicted pagerank decrease but my alexa rank becoming strong. weird huh..
I never really take any notice of Alexa rankings... what you need to understand that Alexa rankings are based on the number of visits recorded by the Alexa toolbar - this obviously means you could be getting loads of traffic, yet none of those visitors have the toolbar installed. As a rule of thumb you could argue that only webmasters are ever likely to have the toolbar installed and that general or home users will never have it installed, let alone know about it - quite simply what about the Alexa toolbar offer that the Google or MSN toobar not offer?
Alexa is just another tool to give us an inklink of your site's traffic. In a huge scale of things, it's moderately accurate, but if you are expecting to compare real stats with Alexa... forget about it
