Alexa ranks google # 2 - is there alternative to the alexa tool?

    Nielsen NetRatings is probably more accurate, but they only cover the top 1000 or so.

    So far the tally of tools we have are:
    - Compete.com
    - Alexa.com
    - Quantcast.com

    I need to compile a list of tools to judge multiple MS SQL Server portals.

    Please send more tools list if you have it. Thank you for all the help.

    In my opinion, Alexa results are not accurate at all..
    Simply if you know who it works, you will get the main idea ;)

    I'm curious as to how compete.com gets their data. I visit this SQL portal SSWUG and noticed Alexa and Compete having ranking gap of 40 thousand...

    also, compete ranks google 1 and yahoo 2... totally different result from alexa

    Alexa seems to be the most popular of the lot..however there are some doubts regarding the authenticity of their rankings at times..but the rankings of google and yahoo are completely justified..cos of the traffic break up that google goes through..

    Alexa bases it's ranking entirely using data gathered from individuals who have the Alexa Toolbar installed on their browsers. Honestly, how many people have the Alexa Toolbar on their browser?:confused:

    there are any alternates to alexa, but of inferior standards.
    that is why the whole internet prefers alexa.

    As for yahoo position at #1, this is because
    yahoo provides more array of services than google

    interesting... I downloaded both compete and alexa toolbars and averaging their ranks... are they any tool that aggregates this kind of information?

    Alexa showing Wrong rank for my website too. . .
    its shoeing i lost 800k ranks in the past 3 months , actually i gained that much rank, alexa isnt accurate now a days

    . . . all you do is find a "manual surf" site and signup . . . get your 5, 15, 25000 "credits" and have your site viewed 25,000 TIMES your TRUE stats like say from www.StatCounter.com well look like SHIT because it all shows is EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOUR VISITS from somewhere like
    www. one of these time consuming rip offs / alexa gold .com sites

    looks good on alexa and CRAP where it really counts

    Alexa ranked my youtube site http://www.youtube.com/user/rajib2k5 having the rank of 5.8 million 2 weeks ago... today, I see the rank of 3.6 million... I was kind of excited thinking I did something right...

    Based on most of the threads here, I may have celebrated too early... What a bummer? :( :) :(
