One of my sites is listed as traffic rank of: 593,853 is this a good ranking as ive no idea how it works. please someone enlighten me.
It just means your estimated at being the 593,853rd most popular site world wide. Its not a perfect metric but its fairly close
try to see where you are in the u.s. or whatever your market is... I have a site that is 234,000 overall... but its u.s. ranking is 30,000... considering that the u.s. is what i cover... it is really all that matters to me and my advertisers
I think it is great. My site-- qisoftware.com has been around since 6/02 and has never been below 800,000. I think Alexa is not the best metric-- but others disagree. Q...
Alexa is biased and not the best measurement. Your ranking is okay but it's not great. That's how popular your site is compared to the other sites in the world. Being under 100,000 is a nice ranking - it means you're in the top 100,000 sites in the world. The lower, the better.
it is even more inaccurate on the high side if you have posted the link to your site on webmaster forums like this one, as the installed alexa toolbar percentage is much higher than in the general public
Alexa traffic rank is not an accurate measure of a site traffic. It just record web traffic only from users having the Alexa browser script
I found many sites with under 100K alexa rankings to have unusual traffics from China. Check the first listing in hit360.com/toptravelsites/ Greece Travel Alexa Top sites and you will see 76% from China! Looks very strange!
Alexa rank does not really matters ..according to me ! if some of your users use Alexa toolbar it means you are going to get high Alexa rank around 500000 to 100000 ..its a very easy task and very nice to see but you should not give more attention to this ranking . Most of the webmasters and SEO professionals prefer good Google Page rank sites means according to them Google Page Rank matters .
Alexa also has a big slant on the SEO/Webmaster side, so if the people visiting your site contain either of these categories it seems like more of them have the tool bar installed (which will help you rankings).
Unfortunately, Alexa is not an accurate measure of a website's traffic. But it's about the best measure there is that I know of. Dale King
Alexa is heavily biased towards what webmasters visit. My website was in top 500,000 before I put a first link to it just because Alexa Toolbar logged all my visits to it as I was developing and debugging it. It's weekly worldwide ranking now is around 50,000 but if that was really the case I'd be on Maui beach not making post on DP. On the other hand my friends website gets about the same amount of traffic but his users are general audience. He's not even in top 1,000,000. There are other tools to estimate traffic that are less biased than Alexa. They base their rankings on aggregating ISP logs and the like.
That happened to me too. While I was building my site I was using firefox with the alexa toolbar installed. I was around 200,000. Since that month I haven't seen below 500,000. but the ranking is getting better as my traffic increases. Just my 2 cents.
